Kessler - Lunar EP

Elicit Records

Kessler continues to chisel his lane within the electronic ether. The Lunar EP is yet another reason as to why Kessler needs to be on your radar. Brooding etiquette meets some of the most well-worked drum loops and scoops around. Worlds of unforgiving mood are met with slabs of shape-shifting design.

A sentience is at hand, the machines have come to life. They speak in throbbing bursts of bass and skittering hi-hats. Entangled in their own delirium, they hum and haw in outcry. There's got to be a way out of this pseudo-existence, this cryptic maze of digital information - the spiders web that is the matrix. The more you fight, the tighter the tunnel gets; squeezing you for everything that you're worth - not much. One way in, no way out. A one-way street to nowhere, where no one knows anything. You can't put the toothpaste back in the tube. Once the door has been stepped through, surrendering to the new new is necessary.

Lunar inhabits a gaze of a brooding demeanour - locked in, head on. Eye-to-eye with the wicked kind. It doesn't mean to do you harm, it just inherently does. A deeper, more sinister game is playing itself out. Under consciousness itself, helpless, unstoppable. A product of its environment; damp cellar dwelling. Sunlight remains a luxury. Only afforded to those that are willing to play the game.

A weight exists behind these tracks. A burden. Somewhere behind the eyelids lies a focused block of concentrated energy. Tight as a heart attack. Impenetrable. Unmoving. You could say uncaring, but there's a soft spirit there somewhere. Trapped in amber, frozen. A suffocating squeeze encroaches. The lungs find no room to expand, the rib-cage stiff and held in a dry-twist, flakey and slowly coming to a stop. No restart. Nowhere to be. No one to see. The train has met the end of the track.
