Boards of Canada - Geogaddi
Warp Records
The elusive sounds of Boards of Canada's 'Geogaddi' celebrate their 20th year of sun-kissed existence. Released on Warp Records it embodies the labels left-leaning/'warped' ethos. The album is structured in a way that every track has an opening/closing piece attached. A warm up and cool down for the minds eye.
It's impossible to write about Boards of Canada without the effect of nostalgia's grip being brought into the equation. The smoke-ringed essence of the material fades into view and with it all your long forgotten deeds - undone and deserted in infinite cycle. A never-ending loop through space and time itself. With it comes full comprehension of everything - inside and out. Glitches in the matrix present themselves, and make complete sense in these parts. Things falling off of things, only to begin again in perennial motion. The end is nigh, but we'll keep on dancing either way. Sunshine through the smog radiates warm pollution for the soul. Sounds beamed through eclipsed dance halls flicker in the distance.
The afterlife is a daunting place if not confronted. Understanding it's necessity alleviates pressure on the spirit.
The Salad Fingers soundtrack is birthed from this project, of course.
