Ghostface Killah - Fishscale

ghostface killah _ fishscale def jam records hip-hop rap

The fifth studio album from Wu-Tang Clan aficionado Ghostface Killah was released on this day in 2006.

The discussion of your favourite Wu-Tang member has been around since the introduction to the clan back in the early 90's and although there isn't a right or wrong answer there can only really be one answer when it comes to most consistent. Each of the nine members has released a steady, solid record, if not a stone cold classic. Ghostface Killah has, in turn, produced multiple solid records and with that multiple classics. Ironman and Supreme Clientele pushed Ghostface's position among the elite of the hip-hop game but Fishscale cemented said position. Fishscale is like the upper echelon of his discography. The diamond in the rough. Just Blaze produced 'The Champ' hails this record as a bit of a celebratory occasion.

Fishscale is home to a more polished sound. With the upper echelon comes the upper class. Production from MF DOOM, J Dilla, Pete Rock and Just Blaze helps to supply Fishscale's atmosphere. A production dream team if there ever was one. I believe it's the first Ghostface project to not feature RZA on the production front.

GFK understands progress. His sound changed with the times, meaning he wasn’t swept aside, and his character managed to match his newfound sound in the process. Ghostface is the face of the proverbial 'If you don’t bend you break' aphorism.
