LoveRegenerator.jpg

20. Love Regenerator EP’s

Danceable without much thought at its expense. Little effort is required to get into these tracks. Calvin Harris has brought his pop factor over to the more aggressive side of the electronic world. This collection of EP's is enjoyable for its ease of access quality.

EvenOxen.jpg

19. Even Oxen - The Goat Lamb of God

Unfathomably beautiful in one breathe and toe-curl enducing in the next. Even Oxen serves up the beauty of a Bon Iver with the harsh textures of a band like Unwound. Blown out beyond repair and unforgiving for being so. The Goat Lamb of God is the short gift that keeps on giving.

AntichristSiegeMachine.jpg

18. Antichrist Siege Machine - Filth of the World

The name says it all really. What you see is what you get. A gruelling experience from the get-go. ASM intend on doing damage and it is indeed done. Cracked pavements and dimly lit alleyways await you. Extra protection will most likely be required.

ShadyNasty.jpg

17.

Shady Nasty - Bad Posture

A post-punk/hip-hop mashup from down under. Immaculately produced and packing a punch that reverberates with the best of them. Shady Nasty can be seen as Tropical Fuck Storm with a street-like, Adidas tracksuit vibe. A full length is sure to be interesting.

Speed, Sound, Lonely KV EP_kurt vile.jpg

16. Kurt Vile - Speed, Sound, Lonely KV

Kurt Vile captures that laid-back vibe better than anybody in the game. He simply resides on the other side of the tracks. A care-free place where all is warm and welcome. His acoustic flurries lay a sweet foundation for daydreams to flow.

fleshwater.jpg

15. Fleshwater - demo2020

Clocking in at just under 8 minutes you cant really go wrong. If it's not you’re thing, move on. It doesn’t require much attention, if any to sit through. Fans of the likes of Deftones and Alice in Chains should give this one a look.

Drop 6 EP_Little Simz..jpg

14. Little Simz - Drop 6

Little Simz took the UK Hip Hop scene by storm with the release of 2019's 'Grey Area'. Her introspective approach garnered attention from every corner of the music business. Drop 6 continues that critically honest narrative, a necessity for character and personal growth.

Holy-Fawn-The-Black-Moon-1579272925.jpg

13. Holy Fawn - The Black Moon

Three tracks from the more spacious side of the music realm. Holy Fawn offer lots of leg room for the mind to get lost in. Wide soundscapes of deep dream fields. Bask in the bliss.

bookhouse.jpg

12. Bookhouse - Lambda λ

Upcoming Welsh psychedelic outfit 'Bookhouse' kickstart their career in impressive fashion on first EP 'Lambda'. Packed full of fluid musicality and a deep understanding of structural layout Lambda builds on the 60's kaleidoscopic qualities with seeming ease. This is what I'd imagine early Jimmy Page demos to sound like, the guitar parts at least. Not a bad beginning in any way shape or form.

before-EP-cover.jpg

11. James Blake - Before

Blake and his vocal manipulations have caught my ears over the years. 'Before' is no exception. It does seem to be made with a hint of fun thrown in and when its done well, like this is, it always leads to something magic. The sinister strings laced across the tracks are some of my favourite of the year. Sink into the aural soundscapes with this one.

slausonmalone.jpg

10. Slauson Malone - Vergangenheitsbewältiging

Music that doesnt fit a particular definition or genre. A mix of everything and nothing at the same time. A more focused sound collage type feel. Hypnagogic and somewhat glitch-y. Fastened by no bearings, free from the chains of language.

draggedintosunlight.jpg

9. Dragged Into Sunlight - Terminal Aggressor II

It takes its time to get where its going but once its there it takes no prisoners. Sinister seeds are sown which in turn birth unforgiving sounds and feel. A 30 minute trip through hell which leaves the listener stranded. Superb.

oldearth.jpg

8. Mike & Jadasea - Old Earth

The US and UK intertwine effortlessly on Old Earth. It’s a pleasure to see (hear). How anybody can find a groove in these beats to rap over is mind boggling. How these beats are made is beyond me.

“You’re ascending upwards or you’re spiraling down”

infantisland.jpg

7. Infant Island - Sepulcher

As unforgiving as 2020 gets. Like a trip through a sandstorm, rendering your skin scraped to shit and good for nothing. Infant Island have produced a work of great pain in the Sepulcher EP. They birth images of the most barren of landscapes in your minds eye. Awoken is an absolute gem. Uninhabitable.

indiajordan.jpg

6. India Jordan - For You

A joyous occasion. Good news manifested in music form. India Jordan hits that euphoric feel smack bang on the head. 'For You' is 30 minutes of sheer soothing emotion with a swing in its step. A happy halfway house between the club and the afters.

clewerson.jpg

5. Clewerson - segredingo

clewerson's Segredinho EP is the perfect soundtrack to a late night train of thought. That auto-pilot, semi-dream state in which many souls find themselves. Late night/early morning companions. Haunting in the most gentle of ways.

serpentcolumn.jpg

4. Serpent Column - Endless Detainment

An endurance bout of the most dense variety. Limitless in depth and boundless in intensity. Serpent Column are shaping up to be one of the most captivating acts around. The metal scene is in the presence of something special.

200stabwounds.jpg

3. 200 Stab Wounds - Piles of Festering Decomposition

The EP's title is an accurate depiction of the music within. Grimy, gritty metal from the 200 Stab Wounds camp. What a name. What a release. I believe that this is their debut project. Not a bad start at all. Clocking in under 10 minutes you just cant go wrong, if this is your type of thing, of course.

justmustard.jpg

2. Just Mustard - Live Sessions

This little taster of the Dundalk collective's live prowess is nothing short of breathtaking. Consisting of tracks from their debut project 'Wednesday' and bits of more recent material 'Live Sessions' serves as a superb introduction to the band. The bands ability to translate their ferocious qualities across to the live setting is second to none.

Women.jpg

1. Women - Rarities 2007 - 2010

Unreleased studio tracks from one of the finest bands to ever do it. Guitar goodness unmatched in its ability to conjure up bittersweet sensations. Acidicly sweet. Music doesnt get much better.
