Nourished By Time - Catching Chickens EP

XL

After the release of 2023's 'Erotic Probiotic 2' Nourished By Time returns with his debut release on a major label - XL Recordings. Said release is the five-song, sub-18-minute 'Catching Chickens' EP.

Nourished by Time's lullingly baritone voice sits on the already languid mix. A calm sea of wobbly, shimmering warmth is set sail on. The playful and joyously deadpan project opener, 'Hell of a Ride', sets the tone for a vibrant trip - a 'boogie with your head down' kind of vibe. In the same world as an Yves Tumor - the modern day standard for groovily warped, soul-fuelled neo-psychedelia - Nourished By Time's spheres of sentient lucidity unfold out and re-fold in on themselves; it's wave-y cadence flickers like open flames. A controlled unpredictability sits center.

Catching Chickens is of the Hypnagogic Pop variety. Stylistically sluggish - heavy-loaded, sonically rather lumbersome and thickly textured; these sounds come with a weight. Melting under the monotony. Dragging a dead deer up a hill. Dancing on an uphill battle. Shake off those ankle weights. Sisyphus with toe-tapping tendencies. Sinking in a tub of treacle. Breathing in a fruity breathe. Finding a fiver on a bad day - your mood is better, but not majorly boosted. A slight rush to the system, but nothing that picks you out of that treacle laced slumber. An infinite number of doors in. One door out. Best to find something to keep you busy while being chained to your self-fulfilling prison.

Traversing your memories, but every time you return they've changed. A sceptical eye is kept on the foundation of dream spheres. Can they be trusted? Are they here at all?

'Children stuck in the matrix.'

A full-length from Nourished By Time is bound to be something exceptional.
