Sweet Pill - Starchild

Starchild is Philadelphia based band Sweet Pill's first step inside 2024. Having released their debut, 'Where the Heart Is', in 2022, Sweet Pill seek to continue their lustrous, dazzling step into the world of music with their 'Starchild' EP.

Starchild is adorned with gorgeous guitar work - anyone familiar with the band will see this as old news. Hints of math rock-y type intricacies make themselves known. Rather chunky riffs are accompanied by elegant guitar parts. A crystalline quality sits centre to the guitar sounds - a serenity of free spirit glints and glares. Like a laser sharp, kaleidoscopic and lushly detailed jingle jangle; gangly guitars on puppet strings being yanked through ripple-like playthroughs, strategical meanderings lay out like roller-coaster rides. The playing of guitars flow off of one another nicely. The interlacing web that they weave births glistening gems that beg to be lost in; their beauty is impossible to not impose rubber-neck locks on the listener. Ear-worms comes to mind, although they're more like brain worms - they go much deeper.

Sleek as silk; rough when necessary to get things across. The lighter and more playful side of emo. A part of the emotion, rather than the result of said emotion. A witness to the ebb-and-flow; the slow rise and fall.

The melancholia of the mundane. The never-ending day.

Glimmers, shimmers, a twinkle in the eye, Sweet Pill's latest project is laced with some of the loveliest finger-pickin'-flickin'-trickin' known to man.
