R.A.P. Ferreira - Bob's Son: R.A.P. Ferreira in the Garden Level Cafe of the Scallops Hotel

2021 begins in an abstract manner with R.A.P. Ferreira, Milo's latest moniker, taking center stage. Prefacing the release with a secret online cafe, Bob's Son shaped up to be a special project and it's nothing short of. Scallops Hotel, another moniker of Milo, takes charge on the production front.
R.A.P. Ferreira has proven to be one of Hip-Hop's finest acts yet again. After his meeting with the Jefferson Park Boys in 2020's 'Purple Moonlight Pages' you'd think a short break of sorts was in store considering the quality of the release. As with some of the most prolific artists out there the itch to get back in the drivers seat is always on the cards, some don't feel the itch as they never leave. I get the feeling Milo is one of those 'you're it all the time or not at all' type characters. The sample used on the track 'Skrenth' ties in with this ethic quite well. "If you wanna be a poet, you can't be. You gotta know you are a poet. And then you've got no fucking choice". A moving mindset and a way of laying out life like no other. Words to live by.
Milo's most definitely of MF DOOM influence. He belongs in the same circle as the recently deceased MC. One of his DOOM babies and a fine one at that. These tracks exist in the same realm as the supervillain. His feel and flow tell likewise. The nature of his being drips abstraction and he packs a wit that comes off as uncaring, sometimes facetious although you can tell things run much deeper. Beyond a point of understanding, rooted in life's ebb and flow.
Compared to 'Purple Moonlight Pages' Bob's Son is less obvious, for lack of a better term. A bit more reserved, at least on the surface. The gold is there, it's just layered neath a dimly lit, smoked out cafe concept. A fitting setting.
